Water Damage Caused by Clogged Gutters

Leaves and dirt build up in rain gutters causing water to back up and spill over the side and pool onto your roof.  This water can cause all sorts of damage structurally and it also invites termites, insects and rodent infestation.

1. Roof Leaks.  When water pools up on your roof, eventually, the roof rots and you start to notice roof leaks, ceiling stains or peeling paint.  This pooled water can also damage your eaves and fascia. 
   
   
2. Siding Damage.  Water that spills over or around your roof drainage system can damage siding and window frames.  You may start to see peeling paint, rust, or warping of the wood, itself.  Unfortunately, once moisture gets inside walls, this can invite mold.

• Weeds growing in them
• Birds pecking around for bugs
• Peeling paint or streaks on the eaves, fascia and siding
• Water puddling under the eaves
• Water spilling over the edge of the roof
• A line of erosion under the gutters where water spills over the edge​​

How often should rain gutters be cleaned?

Most houses need rain gutter cleanout service once per year.  If you live near large trees or trees that drop a lot of leaves or needles throughout the year, they may need more frequent cleanout.
